Wildflowers & Garden Flowers

Connections with Nature

Do you have some special flowers from your garden, that you have grown from seed, or perhaps wildflowers that you have picked on a walk or from a meaningful place? You may have pressed these special stems between some heavy books years ago, they may be dried and kept up in the loft, or perhaps you have a vase of flowers on your dining table at home that are wilting and about to go over.

Nostalgic Memories Preserved into Ceramics

Garden Flower Commissions Available

You can either send your own flowers and stems to me in the post or I can make a piece using a selection of flowers that are available to me at the particular time of year.

Keep Your Flowers Forever

Rather than saying goodbye to your flowers in the compost bin, you can say hello to their new lease of life by having them preserved into ceramic objects where you can see them every day.

It doesn’t matter if the flowers are pressed, dried and crispy, or wilted. They can of course also be fresh which works best as it means the flowers usually peel back out of the clay in one piece. Dried and old flowers will more than likely fall apart once they are pressed into the clay, but I use a pair of tweezers to finely pick out every last detail.

I make ceramic wall hangings, vases, sets of wall tiles, bowls, plates and more with meaningful flowers. The individual stems are arranged into the perfect composition before pressing them into the soft clay.

Pieces can be handmade to any size or shape and can be personalised with names, dates, initials or quotes if desired, making the piece completely bespoke and personal to you.

Vases are glazed inside and out and are suitable for holding water and real flowers. Vessels are hand built using the slab construction technique.

Flowers Tell a Story

I have created a number of bespoke pieces for many happy clients, and I love to know the story behind a piece. It makes what I do even more enjoyable, imagining the recipients facial expression when they unwrap their handmade gift from a loved one, or hearing how a customer reacted when they first set eyes on their new flower preserved piece for their home that they will cherish forever.

How to order

Unless you are local to my studio in Northamptonshire (UK), and are able to drop off your flowers, I would ask that you send them to me in the post. Flowers are usually packaged between layers of kitchen roll or bubble wrap.

Depending on your budget, the size and design of your keepsake piece will be discussed by email or telephone. I will then make a start on your piece(s) and delivery would be around 5-6 weeks in most cases.

Once your ceramic flower preserved piece is complete, you will receive it in the post, packaged beautifully in a box.

Return of flowers

If you would like your flowers returned after they have been used to create your unique wall art tile or vase (although they may be a little squashed and some may fall apart!), I am more than happy to include them in the box when sending your completed piece to you. Please let me know if you would like the flowers returned at the time of ordering, otherwise they will be recycled.
