Gjendine & Fredrik’s Preserved Dried Wedding Flowers

As with all of the brides I work with, I was so honoured to be able to create an everlasting keepsake from Gjendine & Fredrik’s wedding, preserving their flowers forever.

The couple got married at Jordberga Castle in Sweden, July 2021. Gjenni has kindly shared some details about their wedding day:

“Our wedding day was so relaxed and perfect! We were really lucky with the weather; it was predicted to be rainy, but it held up beautifully until right before dinner, when we were going to go inside anyway! We were lucky to celebrate with a lot of friends and family, and everybody was in such a good mood since it had been a long time anybody had been to a big celebration because of Covid. There’s nothing we would change about it! One of our favorite moments was the first look, and the moment we had just us right before the ceremony. We were so nervous but also so excited, bursting with emotion!”

Gjendine & Fredrik looked at a number of florists in the area and checked out their portfolios. They quite liked the pictures on Josefin from Blomsterstallet‘s website, so they made an appointment and immediately liked her.

“Our florist was amazing, she created everything for us with very little guidance other than us telling her what we didn’t like. We didn’t want anything too polished, since our venue was out on the countryside and we were going for a relaxed summery feel. She drew inspiration from the Swedish midsummer tradition where kids collect seven different types of flowers and put them under their pillows that night; it is said that you dream of your future spouse. With that in mind, Josefin created a really colourful bouquet with lots of different colours and shapes so that it would look like something that came straight from the meadow. We were so happy with it and got so many compliments from everybody!”

When the dried flowers arrived safe and sound with me all the way from Sweden, I carefully separated the delicate stems and studied what there was to work with.

There were some beautiful shapes and tendrils, that made gorgeous imprints in the clay once uncurled.

The flowers were dried and had been sent to me several months after the wedding date because the newly weds were making the most of them, enjoying having the flowers in their home. I can work with fresh, dried or even pressed flowers, so this wasn’t a problem.

Gjenni & Fredrik’s names & wedding date is stamped onto the exterior of the vase, as a memory of their special day.

“I looked into ways to preserve flowers before, as I wanted to keep something, but didn’t want to dry the whole bouquet (honestly, they just get really dusty and fragile, and we have not yet bought our long-term home – a dried bouquet is not something that would do so well with repeated moves). The internet led us to you, and it was the best idea! This way, we get to remember our wedding flowers each time we bring fresh flowers home.”

“I had wanted to preserve the flowers, but ultimately, I was too busy to set everything up beforehand. But there was still enough time to organize everything in the days after the wedding.”

“The vase often features on our dinner table; we take it out when we have fresh flowers at home, but often we leave the vase out by itself also, just because it’s really quite decorative. Attached a photo of the vase with flowers! The little doily under it is a souvenir from our honeymoon.”

“We would happily recommend Charlotte Hupfield Ceramics to our friends and families! We have actually already recommended you to multiple couples that are getting married in the next few years!

Thank you so much again for the beautiful vase, it was the perfect way to preserve our wedding flowers.”
