Charlotte & Steven’s Preserved Wedding Flowers

Charlotte and her new husband Steven got married at the beautiful Dodmoor House, a barn wedding venue in Northamptonshire in October – The same venue I got married at in 2017 ❤️

Like many brides, Charlotte wanted to keep her flowers forever and contacted me after the wedding about having a vase and some heart trinket dishes made.

Stunning wedding photography of the newly weds by Sophie Ann Photography.

Charlotte kindly shared some details about what made their wedding day truly special:

“The day was perfect, I’m sure every bride says it but it truly was. We had a wonderful autumnal day, the weather was massively in our favour & the colours of the day looked beautiful and into the evening at Dodmoor – lit up by fairy lights, it was stunning. I think there are key moments that stand out; the run through of the aisle walk with my bridesmaids, hearing Family & Friends in the courtyard enjoying a drink in the sunshine before the ceremony – there was such laughter it was so lovely to hear, focussing on Steve as I walked (I was shaking!) down the aisle, my Grandad attending, the decor – it was bursting with autumnal colours and then lastly probably our first dance – it felt magical, if not a little emotional but I look back and just smile at all these moments but the whole day was perfect so really I just can’t choose my best moment.
The only thing I would change would be stopping myself shaking so much walking down the aisle, I was so relaxed all morning and then it just hit me. I look very emotional walking down the aisle but massive smiles as I walk back up!”

I asked: How did you decide on the colour and types of flowers for your wedding?

“I LOVE autumn so anything that is a colour/shade of fallen leaves on the ground was my inspiration. I also found following brides in America really helped as ‘fall’ is so huge that the colours were amazing and that is actually how I found the bridesmaids dresses. In terms of the flowers, Danielle and Jill had the brief of ‘Autumn’ and came back with a beautiful proposal. I never thought the flowers would be the focal point for me, but I fell in love with them – the minute I saw them & even now when I look at a picture.”

What made you choose the florist you used?

“I know one of the ladies and wanted to support her business, the flowers I had seen looked amazing.”

The gorgeous blooms from Borrow and Bloom were pressed into the clay and then carefully peeled back out, revealing their organic skeletons and preserving the precious textures from each stem as imprints in clay.

The vase was then constructed and the little dishes formed, before adding ceramic pigments and glazes to match the original colour of the flowers as best as possible.

Charlotte found out about my flower preservation service on Instagram, and had an idea that she was going to preserve her wedding flowers in some way but she wasn’t sure how, until she found my business 🙂

The personalised trinket heart dishes were given as final thank you gifts to Charlotte’s bridesmaids.

“I’m moving house so haven’t displayed the vase yet but once we’re into our new home, it will have pride of place – I can’t wait to display it.”

Would you recommend Charlotte Hupfield Ceramics to a friend?

“100%, the quality and overall experience has been 10/10. It’s a brilliant way to preserve something so meaningful.”

Thank you so much Charlotte!
