Newly Weds Preserve Wedding Flowers into Ceramic Keepsakes

Amy and Aaron were married in August at the beautiful Lains Barn in Oxfordshire.

I made a plaque for Amy last year, using flowers she was given on what was supposed to be their original wedding date but was postponed due to Covid.

After patiently waiting like many others, Amy and her husband were married a year later and had the most incredible flowers for their wedding by Green and Gorgeous.

I absolutely love each and every bespoke commission that I am lucky enough to make, preserving peoples flowers in memory of special times. But this particular batch of wedding flowers were just… Wow!

It is fairly rare that I get to meet the bride/newly weds when preserving their flowers as they live far away and so usually send their flowers to me in the post. But on some occasions (like this one!) the couples are local and I get to meet them in person.

After a lovely doorstep chat to discuss what was wanted, Amy & Aaron left me these boxes of gorgeous stems full of texture and colour. I was certainly spoilt for choice and couldn’t wait to get stuck in and start the process to begin preserving these wedding flowers.

The impressions from each stem left some stunning textures in the surface of the wet clay.

I made a medium vase for Amy’s mum, a smaller vase for Amy, a small plaque and heart dish for Amy’s sister, a wall plaque (approx A4 in size) for each of their mother’s, some coasters, and a set of three wall tiles for the newly weds to display in their home.

It was such a joy to create these pieces. I particularly enjoyed the glazing process, mixing colours to achieve just the right shade of pigment.

Amy kindly sent me this photo of the set of three ceramic wall tiles hanging up in their home, as well as some photos from their wedding day below (photography by Olivia of A Beautiful Life), which I am sure you will agree are simply stunning!

It was a pleasure meeting Amy and her new husband Aaron, and I wish them every happiness in their lives together.
