The arrival of Emelia

On Valentine’s Day we spent the day a little differently this year… with the birth of our beautiful daughter Emelia.

She was 3 days early so it was a nice surprise. In the first weeks, adjusting to being new parents was a bit different, certainly challenging, but things are definitely a lot easier now. I can’t imagine life without her!

The picture above was taken when she was 2 weeks old. She has already changed so much (now 12 weeks). I spent the first few months enjoying just being a Mum, and have recently slowly started getting back into making ceramics. I am so grateful to everyone who got in touch while I was on maternity leave asking for commissions, and didn’t mind waiting until I was back up and running. I have made a start on these custom orders and have also enjoyed having a bit of time to create some new designs that I had sketched out towards the end of my pregnancy.

Emelia joins me in the studio, wrapped up in a sling. She usually looks around for a little while and then falls asleep. I think the motion of me walking around humming to myself, and rolling out clay is familiar to her from when she was in my tummy 🙂 Sometimes she sits in the doorway of the studio in her little swing chair watching me, if the weather is nice.

I’m a little late introducing her on my blog, but have finally found a spare moment to write this post. Expect to see much more of her on my Facebook page and Instragram as she grows, and keep up to date with our adventures! <3
