On Saturday 20th September our coffee morning took place at Newnham Village Hall near Daventry.
After weeks of planning and organising, collecting donated raffle prizes, cakes and vouchers from local businesses, it was such a relief when everything finally took shape on the day. People came from all different areas to visit our event where we had 12 craft stalls, a pop-up photography booth where prints could be taken home on the day, and a clay making area.
I was really pleased with the flow of people through the door all day. The cake eating area was always full!
Our craft stalls were a nice attraction for visitors to do a bit of shopping after their tea and cake.
I would like to say a huge thank you to every single person who made cakes. We had a fantastic selection of different flavoured victoria sponges, chocolate cakes, brownies, banana cake, coffee and walnut, carrot cake, scones with clotted cream and jam, flapjacks, rice crispie cakes, homemade biscuits and more. Yummy!
The road signs did well advertising the event a few days before. We even had the Daventry Express turn up who photographed me and Megan with our cups of coffee, and put a little write up about the event in the local newspaper.
The raffle was definitely the highlight of the day. We raised between £300-£400 just on raffle tickets alone, which is all thanks to the businesses and people who donated such amazing prizes. Our raffle display looked really impressive… some visitors even wanted to buy some of the prizes.
I was pleased with the amount of new local customers I gained from my stall, but have to say I don’t think I could have a stall if I ever organised a coffee morning again. It was a bit too much having to greet people, check everything was running smoothly, and serve my customers too.
A glass of wine or two went down nicely after all the clearing up was finished 🙂
My Mum, boyfriend, and so many of my friends did such a great job and were a massive help. Could not have done it without you!
