#SBS Winners Event 2013

18 months on since the last SBS Winners Event… the second event held at the ICC in Birmingham yesterday was just as inspiring and exciting as the first, and did not fail to disappoint!

The allocated time for networking with fellow winners of SBS was great – I loved meeting new winners and hearing all about their businesses and experiences, and also meeting up with ‘virtual friends’ who I can now put a face to a name!

Since I had my photo opportunity with Theo last year, there wasn’t enough time for another and of course priority went to the latest winners over the past 18 months.

Yet again, Theo delivered an exceptional presentation to tell us what he had been up to, developments and plans for #SBS, and some very exciting news of an investment opportunity with the new ‘SBS Angels’.

My favourite quote from Theo on the day was “If you don’t dream, it won’t come true.”

During a Q&A session, Theo was asked to share one of his daily rituals in business. He described how he looks into the mirror every morning to shave, having 4-5 minutes to himself with his own full concentration (and the same for us girls putting make-up on). He then went on to say how he uses this moment to challenge himself, to think about what he did yesterday or what he will be doing today, his feelings, analysing what he has achieved, congratulating himself, generally being honest with himself… and then wanting to achieve more.

I loved this answer and will most likely always remember it when looking in the mirror to put make-up on!

A huge thank you to all the sponsors including Ryman’s Stationary, DHL, RAC, Batercard & ilaw, everyone who helped and got involved with organising the event, and to the inspiring man himself Theo Paphitis for his genuine care and time for small businesses.

Upon exiting the event we received another certificate and goody bag.

SBS is going to be huge. The first event started with around 250 winners, and now there are 960. I’m exceptionally grateful to have been a part of it all right from the start in 2011 when Theo Paphitis had the idea to start ‘Small Business Sunday‘ on Twitter one day in his study at home! It is fantastic to be a part of such an inspiring and motivating journey and I’m enjoying watching SBS grow.

Can’t wait for next years event. Exciting times ahead!
