I’ve been getting tropical…

I’d been meaning to start trying some homemade smoothies for a while, so last week I went out and bought lots of different fruits and began experimenting. The best thing is they are SO easy to make – it’s literally just blended fruit and crushed ice, and they taste SO good. Smoothies are now my new daily ritual 🙂

It’s fun trying out new flavours, so far my favourite is mango and pineapple. You could add natural yoghurt, ice cream or oats to thicken the smoothie and make it more substantial. Other delicious flavours are:

Strawberry & coconut
Peach, raspberries & orange juice
Banana & Mango
Apple & Mango

Aside from smoothie making I had to share my weekend with you… On Sunday we had booked a day out at Alton Towers and wanted to stay nearby to get to the park nice and early. We found a little bed & breakfast on a farm in Oakamoor, but their rooms were all full. Instead we were offered a log cabin that was separate to the main building, which in my opinion was even better. It was so cosy and the views were stunning – miles of beautiful countryside. I would highly recommend Crowtrees Farm for a place to stay, especially if you are visiting Alton Towers.

We had a delicious cooked breakfast ready to set us up for the day, which we definitely needed! I’m a bit of a chicken when it comes to big rides but I loved the thrill and anticipation. ‘The Smiler‘ (new for 2013 – the only rollercoaster in the world with 14 loops!) was well worth queuing for. And another new ride I hadn’t been on before was ‘Thirteen‘, my new favourite. I wasn’t expecting much from this ride and hadn’t looked into what it did. When you’re in the queue for Thirteen you can’t see the ride until you get on, and not knowing what to expect was the best bit!

Me and Dizzy have been having fun practicing more cross country and getting ready for the clear round jumping day in a few weeks. There will be a water ditch included in the course… Fingers crossed I don’t fall off again!!

Oh, and I’ve been busy preparing the new *Christmas* section on my website, coming very soon!
