In the world of a ceramic artist

ceramic wall hangings

A few weeks ago, I decided to brighten up one of the walls in the studio by displaying some of my ceramic hanging decorations. It has turned out to be a good way of showcasing the work, and also for customers to gauge the size of pieces. It also gives me something pretty to look at while working!
I think now instead of keeping most of my hanging decorations wrapped away in boxes, I’ll keep them hanging up here until they sell, and then replace them with new ones.

ceramic wind chimes

I’ve been asked to make a few sets of ceramic wind chimes lately, mostly in rustic autumnal colours and designs which I thought was odd now that spring has sprung, but I think this design works really well, whatever the season.

ceramic rose wall feature

Another custom order – a large hanging ceramic rose. I was very precious about this special piece, and it was enjoyable to work on something completely different. Please get in touch if you would like to commission me to make a special piece for you!

ceramic hanging heart decoration

Hanging hearts are a popular hit in most of the galleries I stock, so whenever I have a batch of new hearts fresh from the kiln they usually need shipping straight to my stockists to replenish their stock. BUT this time I made even more heart decorations so you’ll find a selection of designs in my shop. Each heart is a unique one-off. My latest favourite is the mint green heart in the top right photo – Slightly tempted to keep it for myself…

in the ceramics studio

Like most artists/craft workers, I try to keep organised and tidy as I’m working but there is so much going on in the studio at the moment. I like to call it organised chaos! I really don’t know how I used to cope with my work space being in a tiny shed!!

Keep your eyes peeled for new pieces fresh from the kiln next week…
