Summer Events 2010

It’s a positive feeling having such exciting events coming up. I think I enjoy summer events the most, especially if the sun is shining! It seems to bring people out and about. It’s also a fun time of year because we sometimes camp on site if the event is on for more than one day. I like to get there early, even the day before, to pitch the tent and still have plenty of time to set up my stall. Some events are outdoors so the craft stalls are all in marquee’s.

Some events are inside too, like the popular craft fair organised by Pennine Fairs at Sywell Aerodrome, Northants. I love this event – there are always tonnes of high quality handmade products. The fair is inside Hangar One, and has been running for many years. It is advertised extremely well and seems to get busier each time I’m there.

The airfield is right outside the hangar, with small aeroplanes, helicopters and microlights flying in the air if its a nice day. I’ll be exhibiting my work at the Sywell Aerodrome in Hangar One on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday this year (4th & 5th April 2010).

Then theres the events being held in the grounds of stately homes. On 22nd & 23rd May I’ll be at the Althorp Estate Country Show, in Brixworth, Althorp, Northampton, organised by Oakleigh Fairs. The summerhouse that stands here is dedicated to the memory of Diana, Princess of Wales.

At the show there will be entertainment such as the Suffolk Punch horse demonstration team, birds of prey flying displays, the sheep show, rural demonstrations, a champion dog show, plus bouncy castles etc for children, as well as the arts, craft & gift marquees, and lifestyle & food hall stands which give you the chance to sample and buy unique products.

This summer you can also find me at Castle Ashby House in Northampton, not too far from Althorp. I will be in one of the craft marquees in the walled garden on 26th & 27th June.

Visitors of the event will have access to all of the Castle Ashby Gardens too. Theres the sunken lawns set out in front of the orangery, as well as ponds, nature trails, butterfly garden, and a fuchsia house. There will then be a chance for afternoon tea and a meal in the tea room. I can’t wait to have a wander round myself!

And finally, another event with Oakleigh Fairs – The International Bristol Balloon Fiesta. This has to be my favourite. I was an exhibitor in the craft village for the first time last year, and can’t wait to go back 12th – 15th August this year. We’re planning on camping in the grounds of the show again, it was so much fun, like a mini holiday! Check out my blog post about this event from last year, lots of happy memories 🙂

If you’re in the area on any of these dates please come and say hello if you decide to visit! They are all great events that are guaranteed to be a super day out.
