Fresh From The Kiln (part 1 of 3)

The kiln was unloaded last week – everything turned out perfectly including all special custom orders (which makes a change!) so I am very happy.

If you see something you like just click on the image and it will take you directly to that category of my shop.

These new ceramic brooches came out beautifully, the blue one is my favourite – I must make one for myself.

textured sand dunes bowl

textured bowl detail

Elongated ‘Sand Dunes’ bowl – Filled with lots of texture, and a new overlapping effect.

organic ceramic coasters

New coaster sets – My coasters now come with little rubber feet on the bases to stop them moving around and to protect your surfaces, rather than the old foam I used to use. I have found the rubber feet work much better.

rustic ceramic bunting

Organic ceramic bunting – Love this, it would look really lovely hanging out in the garden as well as inside the home. I’m going to find a nice spot to hang some in my new garden.

handmade ceramic vases

New Sky Line vases – Unfortunately none of these are available at the moment as they have been sent off to an exhibition at Number Four Gallery in Eyemouth. There are a few similar vase designs available in my shop though.

The crater glaze turned out really well on this little bowl. The texture looks stunning and I love the dusky pink colour it has produced. Bright turquoise glass has melted and pooled into the centre.

That’s all for now, but be sure to check back soon to view part 2 of my latest pieces ‘fresh from the kiln’

Spring Birthday Celebrations

On my birthday last week I ran a special offer on my Facebook page Charlotte Hupfield Ceramics (where you’ll always find plenty of offers, prizes and giveaways!), all orders placed on my birthday would receive a special treat: one of my handmade ceramic magnets, a brooch AND a card! I was overwhelmed by the response and spent most of Friday morning packing up complimentary goodies to send out with orders. Yay!

My birthday was a lovely sunny spring day where I visited my favourite local farm shop with friends and enjoyed toasted hot cross buns with hot chocolate, and plenty of cream! My friends baby, Ellie, joined us and we had lots of fun watching the free range chickens.

I really don’t feel 26!

I also spent the morning riding Dizzy – a new addition to my life at the moment. Isn’t she gorgeous? She’s always full of energy, keeping me on my toes!

More new work will be underway very soon, but until then, have you seen the latest collection in my online shop? Happy browsing!

Fresh from the Kiln

Fresh from the kiln this month, and all available in my shop.

Stocking Fillers

I can’t believe Christmas day is in 5 days! So much has been going on here, I haven’t had the chance to think how close Christmas is…
Have you finished your Christmas shopping? I still have a few stocking fillers left to buy. If you are stuck for last minute ideas perhaps I could tempt you into my shop for some lovingly handmade items? Here are a few of my available stocking fillers that were added to my shop last week, but hurry, today is the last day for posting if the items needs to reach you in time for Christmas!

Bits & Bobs

I don’t like throwing things away that I can still get use out of, especially scraps of clay. If there are ever any scraps left over from trimming etc, I usually wedge all of this clay together, roll it out again as a new sheet, and cut small shapes out of it. These shapes soon build up and then go on to form my magnets, brooches and buttons.

The contents of this basket above are always changing. I always display it on the front of my table at craft fairs with a sign saying “Feel free to rummage” – and people do just that! My magnets are good sellers, often customers will buy a few with a larger item, as if they are taking extra little bits of decoration away with them. They are also good sellers for children, as are my brooches…

This selection of handmade ceramic brooches below are part of my ‘Stroll Along the Beach’ collection.

To cater more for gift ideas, I decided to wrap a selection of 3 different magnets together with a personalised card, and my sticker on the front. This set of Natural Brown Magnets is my favourite.

Many more can be found in the Accessories section of my online store.

I was excited to have made my first sale on Etsy at the weekend. These heart buttons are now on their way to their new home in the USA as we speak.
