Christmas Decoration Exhibition at Thoresby Gallery

A selection of my ceramic Christmas decorations including stars, trees, snowflakes and puddings are currently on show in an exhibition at Thoresby Gallery in Nottingham.

The exhibition entitled ‘Xmas Art Shop‘ is open until 8th Jan 2013 and hosts a huge variety of small affordable artworks under £100.

Plus there is a fantastic collection of handmade Christmas tree decorations available in a range of media.

Have you decorated your tree yet? Looking for a few one-off decorations? Xmas Art Shop at Thoresby Gallery is definitely worth a visit if you are in the area!

Seasons Greetings!

After all of the festive excitement at the Contemporary Craft Shopping Experience on Sunday, I’m now feeling very Christmassy! I’m looking forward to making some home made sausage rolls and mince pies soon. It will feel even more like Christmas this weekend as I’m off to Germany and can’t wait to visit the Christmas market in Frankfurt, I hope it snows!

Here are my favourite images from my Christmas pin board on Pinterest above.

Have you got your Christmas tree up yet? It’s not too late to buy handmade ceramic Christmas decorations from my shop if you’re decorating your tree this weekend. My Christmas Pudding decorations have been popular this year but I’ve just made another batch. My personal favourites are the snowflake decorations, elegant and simple.

NEW Christmas shop…

The Christmas section on my website was finally launched last week…

Add a handmade festive touch to your home this Christmas! Choose from snowflakes, Christmas puddings, stars, ceramic trees, festive plaques and other hanging decorations.

I found this mini artificial Christmas tree to try out hanging some of my decorations. I’m not sure if they look too big as the tree is only small, but I’ll be taking the tree to some Christmas craft fairs to decorate my table. I think I’ll decide at the time whether or not to hang the decorations from it!

I’ve also got this bronze tree stand which I love. I’ll be using this at craft fairs too, it comes in very handy and looks better showing some of the decorations hanging up rather than all flat on the table.

My next fair is the Craft & Gift Fair this Sunday 30th Oct at the Benn Hall in Rugby, Warwickshire. It would be great to see you if you are out and about – Don’t forget to come and say hi, and find out how I end up displaying my Christmas decorations!

Christmas Decorations

Ceramic snowflake decorations are currently under way and piling up fast in the workshop. They will be available individually as well as in sets on my website very soon!

Are there any particular shapes or designs of Christmas decorations that you would like to see?

Time to relax…

Finally a chance to relax and take a break from orders and sending out parcels! Not that I don’t enjoy it, but it has been a rather hectic few weeks running up to Christmas.

I’m so pleased to say that all of my presents are now bought and wrapped. It has been a worry because I’m usually so organised that my Christmas shopping is finished in November and everything is already wrapped! So I don’t know what happened this year, it seems like it has just sprung upon us.
We have a fibre optic tree this year. I decided not to decorate the free with fairy lights because the fibre optic lights are enough, it looks so pretty in the evenings.

The stars I’ve hung from the living room windows look really pretty from outside too.

I also decorated this bowl we got from Tunisia with pine cones and a big gold star. Molly keeps trying to take the pine cones out with her teeth!

This is one of my favourite Christmas decorations below, it is handmade from birch wood, I bought it in Germany a couple of years ago at their big Christmas market.

The snow has been falling quite heavily overnight here, and there is at least 7 inches on the ground. What a perfect excuse to stay in and cook home made mince pies and sausage rolls!

Hope you are all staying warm and safe. If you have to go out, go careful in the snow!

Christmas Mood Board

With Christmas fast approaching, here is my Christmassy mood board for a bit of festive inspiration this weekend.

It’s all go!

It’s been a busy week for me in the workshop – I’ve got work in progress all over the place! (Photos to follow soon). I’m currently making loads of sets of coasters, I need to send 14 sets down to Devon at the end of the month for the ‘Make‘ exhibition, plus I need more to list on my website and also for stock at craft fairs.

I’m also working on some custom orders, including butterfly plaques for a shop, a vase with personalised trailed wording engraved around the exterior, and a panelled ceramic wall hanging using the customers chosen colours and textures.

As always at this time of year, I’m also making lots of my decorative hanging stars – ideal for the Christmas tree! My stars were featured on the Makers-Online Christmas Gift blog this week. You can purchase my ceramic stars in sets of 4 here.

On top of all of this making, I’ve got a busy weekend ahead. We are having a house warming party on Saturday (better late than never), so I’ve got lots of yummy food to prepare!
