My trip to Thailand

ThailandAfter three and a half weeks in Thailand I’m feeling very refreshed and positive. I had an amazing trip, and although some of it was very tiring, I enjoyed every minute. A lot of the moments I experienced will be treasured memories, and definitely stories to tell!

Bangkok

Just some of the memorable things included a 2 night hilltribe jungle trek, bamboo rafting, sleeping on a floating raft house, visiting lots of beautiful temples, island hopping around the south and going to Maya Bay where the film The Beach was filmed, seeing places where the tsunami had hit and still recovering, elephant riding, swimming in waterfalls, trying new food, Thai massages, going to the famous Sky Bar (where a scene from the film The Hangover 2 was filmed), riding in tuk tuk’s, playing with wild monkeys on the beach, travelling on an overnight sleeper train, camping on a private island, cycling through busy traffic, being blessed by Monks, shopping at so many wonderful markets, watching lady boy shows, exploring rice fields, and snorkeling in beautiful turquoise sea water.

I think my back has just about recovered from carrying a travelers backpack around, and I’m so glad to not be living out of a bag anymore!

Here’s my pick of the best photos to share that sum up my trip…

temple steps

I climbed hundreds of steps to get to the top of the Wat Pra Thad Doi Suthep temple (above). It was worth it!

My most favourite part (aside from the beautiful islands) was having the chance to get up close and personal with wild animals. I’m a sucker for all animals so always jumped at the chance to see them, so can you imagine how I somehow managed to contain my excitement when I was able to HOLD some of them?!

The baby leopard (above) was absolutely gorgeous and had such soft fur. And as for this guy below, he loved my hair. Aren’t they adorable?

Char and monkey

The absolute highlight for me though, was playing with tigers. This was at Tiger Kingdom in Chiang Mai. Amazing!

The fish in the pool of this waterfall hung around in the shallow area waiting for you to get in so that they could nibble your toes!

If you are thinking of visiting Thailand, you must! I have definitely ticked the ‘Thailand’ box now, and gained so much new inspiration for my work that my head is almost exploding with new ideas… Where  to visit next?
