Nature is beautiful…

Have you ever taken a moment to admire the beauty of nature around you?

It is the many different organic objects, shapes, colours and forms that inspire my work. And what best to use other than nature itself to create the most naturally beautiful surfaces.

I have been having so much fun collecting bits and pieces of plant life on my travels; even weeds! I often reach over and collect some interesting looking plants whilst out horse riding in the countryside. I’m always picking up organic objects and wondering how they could be incorporated in my work… Even if they just sit on the window sill in the workshop to be admired until I find a use for them.

Writing this post reminded me of a previous post I wrote a few years ago about collecting nature, showing some similar type objects and plants I like to collect.

I can’t wait to see the finished results of these clay panels with impressed organic matter. Any small bits of the plants left in the clay will burn away when fired in the kiln, leaving an impression behind.

Now to decide which glazes to use…
