Local Harvest Craft Event

This weekend I was at my local garden centre in Whilton Locks, with a stall selling my ceramics. I was a little surprised to find out that the stall space was outside when I arrived Saturday morning, after being told it would be inside. I guess the organisers classed being under a small marquee as inside!

Despite the chilly weather (luckily I took a scarf and gloves), it was an okay day. It was certainly very different to other events I have attended before, but I’m glad I went. I enjoyed chatting to some of the local people.

One of my regular customers was there, which was nice to catch up. She bought a vase and 2 sets of coasters for her friends for Christmas.

Whilst chatting to a couple of friendly ladies during the day, they asked if I ran workshops or classes to teach ceramics. They said they would come if I did, so this may be something new and exciting to start thinking about.

My stall was situated in between the rows of pansies, trees and flowers outside the garden centre, so I had a lovely view all day!

My new ceramic gift tags were popular, lots of people commented on how different they are, and “what a good idea” was mentioned quite a bit! But I didn’t manage to sell any.

Claire of Lady Luck Jewellery was there with a stall. She looked after my stall for 5 mins while I went to the loo and tried to sell some of my gift tags to people, mentioning that they are environmentally friendly because they can be used again and again. That was a good pointer, thanks Claire!

Last weekend I bought this decorative bronze stand in the shape of a tree (below). I used it to hang my ceramic stars which looked really effective. You can’t see it too well in this image, I’ll have to photograph it on a white background.

Close to the flowers outside, we heard a little ‘neigh’ in the morning and discovered this cute little chap munching on hay – his name was Arthur!

I’m glad I took part in this event as it has got me ready for my next show this weekend coming. It’s been 2 months since I’ve done a proper craft fair! I’m really looking forward to this next one, it was great for me last year. It will be at The Benn Hall in Rugby on 31st Oct. I need to get my table cloths and sheets washed and ironed ready for it now!

  1. Your stalls always look so good! I love the gift tags too – they are a great idea, such a shame you didn't sell any. Are they available online?
You should definitely consider doing workshops – it's a great idea, sure you'd have lots of success! x

  2. Forgot this event was on, wish i'd popped along. Workshops would be a great idea and i'm sure you would get plenty of interest.
