Bunting
August 03, 2010 Charlotte
…has been something I’ve wanted to make for a while now. I think it looks great displayed on craft fair tables and could help to make my stall more attractive. I found a tutorial called ‘No Skills Recycled Bunting’ in the latest edition of the online Creative Crafting magazine (August/Summer 2010, pages 30-31), which has definitely been useful.
I’ve been researching lots of different bunting styles, and have become a little obsessed with it! I love the different patterned fabrics in this Red & Blue Bunting on jute string above by Ticketty Boo.
thegreengables has shown an example of how bunting can be displayed and hung out in the garden above. It would brighten up any garden at this time of year, I might try it when we’ve moved soon.
Bunting can also be personalised, for use as business name promotions, or celebration banners such as this ‘congratulations’ example above by The Banner Sisters.
If you’re feeling super creative you could try being even more daring with something intricate like this paper garland of hearts by the talented bookity.
My personal favourite way to display bunting is across a fireplace as a garland, very pretty!
I now have a confession to make… I haven’t actually made my own bunting as yet, I bought some yesterday to save time as I need it for my show next week. It is definitely on my list of things to do though, I think I’ll make some to hang in the garden
Hi Charlotte, bunting does indeed brighten up any room/stall

Hi Charlotte, I too LOVE bunting but have not yet gotten around to making any… Thanks for the tutorial above I'll bookmark it for yet another day.. Love the hearts too.. Very cute!
Best of luck with your show next week!
Cheers,Chrissy
Hi Charlotte, I love bunting too, I used to have them in my shop, have you ever thought about doing a ceramic one, obviously not too long a length but perhaps you could hang it upon twisted copper wire or something, might look rather nice,
hugs,
Em.x
Thanks for your comments. Ceramic bunting… now theres an idea! Thanks Em, will be giving that a go!
I haven't even taken down the bunting from my etsy craft party!
The neighbors must think we're having a party everyday. And then of course I have Emma Lambs's beautiful crocheted bunting in my studio which I love.
And I have my eye on fabric where I want to make a bunting from…
Hi Charlotte, thanks for featuring my red/blue string bunting – I never tire of making bunting it's really rewarding and always puts a smile on my face x Lovely feature and lovely blog x
