My Creative Space

This week I’ve been busy making new pieces to stock up on what I’m running low of. That means making lots and lots of plaques! It has felt good making a mess, although making mess means clearing up.

I’ve been trying out some new design ideas, including this impressed leaf pattern from a tree in my garden. I’m really pleased with the effect, and have used it on some new bowls and other work. It also looks great pressed into the side of a pot. It will look even better once it is fired, after some oxides and glaze has been applied.

The tree in my garden, that we call the big ‘Christmas tree’, has started sprouting new leaves again. I look forward to seeing this every year at the beginning of summer, with bright lime green shoots on the ends. They get longer and longer as the tree grows.
