Local Craft Fair

I had a brilliant day at a local craft fair on Sunday, it was in Rugby at The Benn Hall. This was actually one of the closest events to home that I’ve ever exhibited, I usually go for bigger events but I was very impressed with this one. A good number of people were flowing through the door all day, and I sold lots of items so was very pleased. I sold a few of my newest favourite pieces, and I was happy about it of course, but now I’ll have to make some more similar 🙂

My stall was situated in front of the stage so I could use it as extra display space which was a bonus. There were free craft workshops for children which was a great idea, because it meant parents could shop at their leisure! There were some lovely stalls and I met some more interesting people. It’s funny what you find out when you get talking. Because this was a local event, I also saw the ceramics tutor from the college I went to and she bought 2 vases. That was a nice compliment!

I sell a lot of my ceramics in galleries and online, but I love being able to get my work seen more at craft fairs and similar events. Its great to meet customers, see their reactions and hear their comments. Sometimes I have a notepad under the table and jot down comments that people say about my work and the stall, its nice to look back on. My mum came to the event and bought a felt collage in a chunky wooden frame from another stall, and the stall holder asked her: “Would you mind telling me why you chose that one?” …What a good idea for finding out customer feedback – Simple but effective!
I’m really looking forward to my next craft fair in 2 weeks – Its the Contemporary Craft Shopping Experience at the Warwickshire Exhibition Centre near Leamington. I’ve got a feeling its going to be another successful event, the organiser has done a great job and spent a lot of time organising and promoting it. Let me know if you would like any leaflets. If you are in the area come along on Sunday 22nd November, and make sure you introduce yourself!
